Fully-loaded fuel tanker falls at Mile 2 bridge, Lagos – LASEMA

A tanker, fully loaded with 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirits (PMS), fell in a solitary accident on Saturday on top of Mile 2 bridge (well known as Mile 2 Oke), inward the bus top commonly known as Cele, along the Lagos-Apapa Expressway.

Situation report by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) indicated that “further investigation gathered at the scene, revealed that the accident was caused by a mechanical fault”.

LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu said that “while the tanker was ascending the bridge it then suddenly rolled back, fell and spilled all its contents. The content and the entire area had been blanketed by the LASEMA Responce Unit firefighters and Lagos State Fire Service to avoid any fire outbreak.

“No loss of life or injury recorded at the scene”.

“Operation ongoing.”
