Gas explosion: Tinubu sympathises with Abeokuta victims

President Bola Tinubu has extended his deepest sympathies to the victims of the gas explosion at Ita-Osin, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The explosion from a solitary gas truck rippled through the community, resulting in the loss of life and property last Saturday.

The President also sympathised with the state government, and residents of the state over the tragedy.

He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun on his “valiant efforts to arrest the situation and immediately restore calm to the community”.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale on Tuesday, the he President assured the people of the state, particularly the victims of the harrowing incident, of his fervent support in this moment of grief.

There was a fire incident at about 5 pm on Sunday caused by a lone accident of a gas truck,  with the inscription Gasco Marine, at Ita Osin junction, a few metres from the roundabout.

The truck, moving inward Abeokuta, the state capital, lost control and ran into the road pavement before it eventually stopped.

The driver fled the scene while the truck boy lost his life. His mutilated remains have been deposited at the General Hospital, Ijaiye.

Four parked vehicles were reportedly burnt to ashes. The inferno also affected five shops, with one completely burnt.
