Nigerian content creator and founder of GehGeh School of Marriage, GehGeh, has responded to criticism following his marriage to his partner, Mary.
The social media personality reportedly married Mary in a private ceremony on Saturday, prompting widespread reactions online. The wedding has attracted criticism from many Nigerians, including some of his followers and several celebrities, who accused him of contradicting his long-held views on marriage.
Some critics described the marriage as a betrayal, while others claimed his teachings had negatively influenced their personal relationships by discouraging them from marrying.
Responding to the backlash, GehGeh questioned claims that he had ever advised people against marriage. Addressing followers of his online School of Marriage on X, he wrote: “I never for once social media users shared videos in which GehGeh appeared to state that he would never marry or maintain a romantic relationship. In the clips, he also described marriage as a “financial mistake” and a “scam”, fuelling further debate over the apparent contradiction between his previous remarks told y’all not to get married. Did I? If yes show me a video of me telling you not to marry.”
However, shortly after his post, several social media users shared videos in which GehGeh appeared to state that he would never marry or maintain a romantic relationship. In the clips, he also described marriage as a “financial mistake” and a “scam”, fuelling further debate over the apparent contradiction between his previous remarks and his recent wedding.
