Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has mourned the gruesome murder of a 58-year-old mother of eight, Aishatu Abdullahi, in the Jekadafari ward of Gombe metropolis, describing the incident as a mindless act.

In a statement by the Director-General of Press Affairs to the Governor, Ismaila Misilli, Yahaya directed the police and other relevant security agencies to mobilise investigative assets and ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice.

He vowed that the state, under his watch, holds a steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, adding, “We have a zero-tolerance policy towards criminal activities, and this incident only strengthens our resolve to uphold the peace and security that our state is known for.

“I want to make it abundantly clear that there will be no escape from justice for those responsible for this vile and vicious act. Our security agencies are directed to leave no stone unturned to track down the culprits to account for their heinous action”.

While conveying the deepest condolences of the government and people of Gombe State to the bereaved family, he called on the people of the state to remain calm and vigilant in the face of any threat to collective security.

“The details of this incident, as preliminarily reported by the police, are nothing short of horrifying as a dark stain. Our hearts bleed for the bereaved family, who are grappling with an unimaginable loss, and for the Jekadafari community as well as the entire citizens, who are now scarred by the traumatic aftermath of this tragic event”, Yahaya added.
