The Prince Adesina Olalekan Foundation has urged the Ogun State Police Command to protect a 17-year-old boy and ensure justice in a reported sexual assault case involving him in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The foundation made the appeal while commending the police for ordering an immediate manhunt for a man identified as Kola, who has been accused of sexually assaulting the teenager.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, ordered the manhunt on Wednesday following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s parents at the Adigbe Police Division on Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the teenager, who was accompanied by his parents, alleged that Kola sexually assaulted him on three occasions in January 2026 and threatened him not to disclose the incidents.
Reacting to the development, the foundation’s Managing Director, Habeeb Whyte, said the organisation had been following the case with concern.
The foundation commended Ojajuni for ordering the immediate manhunt and directing that the matter be investigated with urgency and sensitivity.
It said prompt institutional responses to allegations of sexual abuse were particularly important because victims and their families might be discouraged from reporting such incidents due to fear, stigma, threats or a lack of confidence in public institutions.
The organisation added that the police response demonstrated the responsiveness and sensitivity expected from officers entrusted with protecting citizens.
However, it urged the command to sustain its efforts and ensure that the investigation was thorough, impartial and conducted in accordance with the law.
“The Prince Adesina Olalekan Foundation therefore calls upon the Ogun State Police Command to sustain the momentum of the investigation, ensure that the suspect is apprehended, and conduct a thorough, impartial and professional investigation,” the statement said.
The foundation further called for the protection of the teenager throughout the investigation and urged the relevant prosecutorial authorities to pursue the case in line with the law should the evidence establish that an offence was committed.
The allegation against the suspect remains unproven unless established by a court of law.
