Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has become the fifth English player to win the Ballon d’Or after claiming football’s most prestigious individual award at a ceremony in London on Monday night.
The 33-year-old finished ahead of Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé and Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal to secure the coveted honour.

Kane joins an elite group of English Ballon d’Or winners, including Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Michael Owen.

His triumph comes 25 years after Owen became the last Englishman to win the award, in 2001.

The Bayern Munich forward earned the recognition following an outstanding 2025–26 campaign, during which he scored 73 goals and provided eight assists across all competitions for club and country.

Kane also played a key role in Bayern’s success, helping the German giants secure the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup titles during the season.

The award marks another significant milestone in the England captain’s career, recognising his prolific goalscoring record and contribution to Bayern Munich’s domestic success.
