Ighodalo wins PDP’s Edo governorship primary

Corporate lawyer and businessman, Mr. Asue Ighodalo has won the Edo State governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), beating about nine other candidates including the Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu in the election held in Benin City on Thursday.

The election was held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in the Edo State capital with Ighodalo polling 577 votes to emerge as the state’s ruling party’s governorship candidate for the September 2024 election.

The Chairman of the state PDP Primary Electoral Committee, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State declared the financial and legal expert as the winner of the exercise.

A parallel election was also held at Shaibu’s residence in Benin City, where he was declared the winner.
