Elders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna state, have declared unwavering support for the administration of Governor Uba Sani, while dismissing circulating reports on the LGA as ‘insinuations, allegations and false information’.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kaduna, Professor Dauda Ishaya, speaking on behalf of the Ikara Elders Forum and APC stakeholders, said the delegation came to ‘clear the air’ and affirm their stance publicly.
‘We are here purposely to indicate our profound gratitude and total support to the government of Uba Sani in Kaduna State and to the entire government of Kaduna State’, Ishaya said.
He stressed that the elders, stakeholders and residents of Ikara were united in backing every decision taken by the state government, particularly those affecting the local government and the APC in the area.
‘We want to tell the people categorically that the entire people of Ikara Local Government Area, including elders and stakeholders, are in full support of every decision taken by the Kaduna State Government, and we will continue to stand firmly behind those decisions by the grace of God’, he added.
Rebuttal of conflicting reports
Ishaya acknowledged that different versions of events concerning Ikara had been making the rounds. He said many of the claims were misleading and would not withstand scrutiny.
‘As you have heard, there are different versions of stories going around, especially concerning the affairs of Ikara Local Government Area and what is happening there. Some of these reports are mere insinuations, allegations, and false information. If proper investigations are carried out, the truth will become clear’, he said.
The forum said it chose to speak out to prevent the public from being left ‘in confusion and darkness’.
He cited Projects as evidence of government impact To illustrate the government’s engagement with the LGA, Ishaya pointed to two key interventions.
He said the General Hospital in Ikara, which was once in a poor state, had been upgraded to a modern facility comparable to national standards.
He also cited the resolution of chronic water shortages in rural communities following complaints to the state government and the council chairman.
‘If you interview people in the rural communities of Ikara Local Government Area, they will tell you how severe the water shortage used to be. But when we complained to the government and our honourable chairman, immediate action was taken, and the situation was addressed. Today, the issue of water scarcity in Ikara has become a thing of the past’, he stated.
‘If I want to mention everything the government has done in Ikara Local Government Area, I may not finish talking about it’, Ishaya noted.
He therefore Called for unity and continued cooperation
The elders said their ability to appear together reflected unity within the forum, which they attributed to the cooperation extended by the state government.
‘As elders, we are united, and that is why we are here together in one accord. Without unity, it would not have been possible to gather this calibre of elders together to openly show support for the government’, Ishaya said.
He maintained that the visit was meant to demonstrate the LGA’s loyalty and to encourage continued collaboration between the government and grassroots leaders.
‘We want the government to know that we have come here to show our total support, and we hope the government will appreciate what the elders, stakeholders, and people of Ikara Local Government Area have done today’, he said.
The Ikara delegation said it would maintain its support for the Uba Sani administration and the APC structure in Kaduna State.
