Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) new boys and high-flyers, Ikorodu City, have reached the semi-finals of the 2025 President Federation Cup following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wikki Tourists in Abuja on Saturday.
The NPFL side secured their berth in the final four with 10 men, scoring the only goal of the game courtesy of Shola Adelani’s second half penalty.
Nurudeen Aweroro’s side had Leonard Ngenge sent off after the hour mark, but the Lagos side held on to hold on and book their spot in the last four where they will play Nigeria National League (NNL) side Abakaliki FC.
It is the first time the Oga Boys will be reaching the final four since the formation of the club.
Their semi-final opponent, Abakaliki FC beat Nasarawa United on penalties to reach the final four. The game finished 1-1 in regulation time before the Ebonyi club went ahead to win 5-4 in the shootout.
Meanwhile, former Champions Rangers International defeated Plateau United 1-0 to also book their spot in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Chidozie Okorie’s first half goal was all the Flying Antelopes needed to edge their fellow NPFL campaigners to set up another all-NPFL fixture against Kwara United.
Kwara United played in Enugu where they came from behind to beat Akwa United.
The 2017 champions led twice through Endurance Ebedebiri and Emmanuel Ini before the Harmony Boys got on level terms via Wasiu Alalade’s brace.
No goals were scored again as the game went to a penalty shootout at the end of regulation time, where Kwara United triumphed 5-3 to seal their place in the semi-finals.
