Ilara-Epe cements Trinidad & Tobago’s relationship with chieftaincy honour to envoy

The Alara of Ilara, His Royal Majesty Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo will on 13th and 14th July confer the chieftaincy title of Aare Atunluto of Ilara Kingdom on the High Commissioner for The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Nigeria, His Excellency Mr. Wendell De Landro.

 The event is symbolic as it further reinforces the diplomatic overtures that the Caribbean Island envoy has made in creating a mutually beneficial relationship between Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago putting into cognisance the traditional African institution as the custodian of the value which connects Motherland Africa and the Caribbean.

De Landro’s immense contribution to Nigeria’s development is evident in the area of diplomacy and economy having served as an expert in oil and gas sector in Nigeria. His enthusiasm to see to the development of Ilara Kingdom and Lagos is demonstrated by the interventions his office has made in the past and will be making in the future.

Part of the programmes to celebrate the conferment is the official signing of the bilateral relations and cooperation Memorandum of Understanding between Ilara-Epe kingdom and Trinidad and Tobago; a highly anticipated historical moment that will open up the Lagos town to investment in the area of trade and commerce, cultural tourism and creative industry initiatives.

Aside from the traditional conferment and reception which will witness a colourful display of the Nigeria-Africa, Trinidad and Tobago cultural heritage, the Africaribbean Cultural movement which is an offshoot of the Nigeria-Trinidad and Tobago Trade and Commerce Cultural Tourism and Creative Industries Relations Initiative will open a new vista of cultural reawakening between Nigeria, West Africa and the Africa Continent on the one hand and Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean region on the other hand .

The coordinator of the programme, Hon. Consul Designate Rotimi Vaughan, and leadership of the conferment planning committee, Mr. Rotimi Otedola have indicated that all is set to make the event memorable by bringing Africa and the Caribbean together in unity through many Africaribbean Movement initiatives.
