INEC postpones results announcement to 6 pm

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it is ready for the announcements of the Presidential and National Assembly elections conducted yesterday. The collation centre will now open for the announcement by 6 pm, according to INEC National Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

Yakubu had said on Saturday that the collation of elections on Sunday by midday.

He said the result announcements would go on at a stretch with short breaks necessary.

Eighteen candidates contested the presidential elections on Saturday 87,209,007 eligible to vote.

Election was however marred by violence in many centres.
