The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Àkeem Owoade, has called on Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in Oyo State to install Closed-circuit Television (CCTV) cameras between Oyo and Fiditi town as another way of finding a solution to the insecurity in the area.

He told the governor that the cameras had been installed between Ibadan and Fiditi, hence the need to extend it to Oyo town.

Alaafin, in a statement by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, in Ibadan, the state capital, on Monday, made this plea during his visit to Governor Makinde at his Ikolaba private residence in Ibadan, at the weekend.

‘I want to appeal to the State Government for the installation of CCTV cameras between Oyo and Fiditi. These cameras had been installed between Ibadan and Fiditi towns’, he said.

The monarch extolled the virtues of the governor, describing him as ‘a man with an objective bent of mind, who is extremely curious and always on the quest for truth’.

Owoade, who was accompanied by his wife, Ayaba Abiwunmi, noted that whilst remaining faithful to personal principles, the governor is ‘ever ready to succumb to superior argument if logic and evidence are compelling enough.

‘Makinde is deeply a passionate person. He believes in the cause that he espouses. He is passionate about the cause of emancipation of his people’.

Alaafin further lauded him for his steadfastness and sense of commitment to the well-being of the people of the state.

‘I will not only ensure open and transparent communication, but prioritise clear, honest, and consistent communication with the people. This open communication will further cultivate a sense of shared responsibility and trust within the people.

‘When leaders genuinely care about their people, they create an environment where trust can flourish, leading to stronger relationships, improved performance, and long-term success’, he added.

He prayed to God to grant the governor a long life and good health in steering the ship of the state, calling on the people of the state to reciprocate the gesture of good governance by the governor through their unalloyed support and cooperation to his administration.

Responding, Makinde said he was glad and had no regret that he ensured due process during the selection of the new Alaafin.

He said he ensured neutrality throughout the process of selection in order to prevent bias and ensure a fair and unbiased resolution.

The governor noted that the concept of an impartial decision-maker is integral to fostering public confidence.

Makinde assured the monarch of his determination to ensure a befitting renovation and reconstruction of the Alaafin Palace.
