The Organisation of Muslim Unity (Nig) has condemned the attack on a Muslim brother and his family by a pastor.

According to a communiqué by the President of the Organisation of Muslim Unity (Nig), Engr. Waheed Shittu, and the Secretary-General, Alhaji Ma’ruf Elegbede at the 82nd National Executive Council (NEC) held from 5th to 7th July 2024, at the National Secretariat in Idimu, Lagos State, said the pastor of CAC Agbala Imole in Iseyin, had used Army personnel to intimidate them on the day of Eid-El-Adha.

The organisation also commended the resolution of the conflict between the Royal Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomoso, and the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Dr. Toliat Ayilara.

The communiqué reads; “The Constitution of Nigeria guarantees freedom of Religion devoid of any hatred or victimization from anybody. It is on this, that we condemn in totality the unwarranted attack on our Muslim brother and his family by a pastor of CAC Agbala Imole at Iseyin using Army Personnel to intimidate, harass and assault them on the day of Eid-El-Adha. We call for full justice on the matter and thorough investigation and appropriate punishment on the Army Personnel involved.

“We commend the timely intervention and settlement of the imbroglio between the Royal Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomoso and Dr Toliat Ayilara – the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso and advise those behind the rift to allow better religious understanding and tolerance for lasting peace and harmony to reign in the town.

Additionally, the organisation called on security agencies to remain vigilant and praised their commendable efforts in reducing insecurity to a minimum.

“The recent bombings in Borno State calls for more vigilance by our security agencies at their respective duty posts and also advise them not to relent on the commendable efforts at bringing down insecurity to the present manageable situation.

The Muslim group also appealed to President Tinubu to address the nation’s high cost of living and to reconsider the recent increase in electricity tariffs.

“We call on Mr President and Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the high cost of living being experienced by the masses as a result of hyper-inflation caused by the removal of fuel subsidy and unstable foreign exchange value.

“We charged the Federal Government to reconsider the recent increase in the electricity tariff as it harkened to the burden of the citizens.

“The incessant down tools by the various workers unions on wages and non-implementation of agreements with the government has continued to slow down productivity, thereby affecting the economy of the nation. We, therefore, implore the government to always honour signed agreements with the unions for peace to reign in the nation”.
