Nigeria will face Angola on Friday in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, now holding in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Super Eagles made that possible after beating old rivals Cameroon 2-0 in the second match of the Round of 16. Angola had kicked out Namibia 3-0 in the first game of the first knockout phase.
Ademola Lookman’s 36th minute strike opened the goal account for the Nigerian side who were knocked out at this stage by Tunisia in the last edition of the continent’s flagship competition.
After a huge scar with keeper Stanley Nwabili injured in the 80th minute, Lookman eased pressure on the Super Eagles with a well worked out goal in added time.
