The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission between 2021 and 2026 to accept or reject their outstanding offers.
The deadline, which was initially set for Monday, 31 August 2026, has been moved to Wednesday, 30 September 2026.
JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, announced the extension in a statement posted on X on Saturday.
The board described the extension as a “final opportunity” for affected candidates to indicate whether they wish to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers, including regular and Centralised University Information and Admission (CUIIA) offers.
“Candidates with pending admission offers who have not yet accepted or rejected (regular or CUIIA) such offers are strongly advised to do so before 30 September 2026,” Benjamin said.
The board advised candidates not to wait until the final day, warning that failure to act within the revised timeframe could have consequences for the status of their admissions.
Candidates who accept their offers will be able to proceed with printing and obtaining their admission letters.
Those who reject their offers, however, will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted”, allowing JAMB to update its records to reflect their current admission status.
JAMB also provided guidance for candidates who are no longer studying at the institutions where their previous admission offers were made, or who are currently enrolled in programmes different from those for which they received the earlier offers.
According to the board, such candidates may accept the outstanding offer and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission, where necessary.
JAMB said the process would enable it to update the candidates’ admission status and records accordingly.
The board also addressed candidates who are currently pursuing a second degree but still have an earlier admission offer that remains unaccepted.
It said such candidates could reject the earlier offer and continue with their current programme.
JAMB further assured candidates who secured admission during the 2026 admission exercise that rejecting an earlier outstanding offer would not adversely affect their new admission.
The board said the extension was intended to give all affected candidates one final chance to make their decisions and enable it to maintain accurate and up-to-date national admission records.
It urged all candidates concerned to take the necessary action before the new deadline of 30 September 2026.
