The Upper Sharia Court at Post Office in Kano State has ordered the remand of Khadija Muhammad, popularly known as ‘Yar Lele’, in a correctional facility over alleged defamation and harassment.
Khadija was brought before the court by the police and appeared before Justice Garba Malafa.
She is accused of posting a video containing statements allegedly concerning the reputation of MD Hassan, a politician from Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The defendant pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to her in court.
The prosecutor, Barrister Awaisu Sani Lawan, asked the court for more time to present witnesses and other evidence in support of the case.
After hearing submissions from both sides, the court ordered that Khadija be remanded in a correctional facility.
The case was adjourned until October 14, 2026, for further proceedings.
