Katsina State Police Command says it has arrested no fewer than a total of 273 suspects for various crimes, including robbery, kidnapping, murder, unlawful possession of firearms, among others, in April 2025.

The command Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Abubakar Sadiq, gave the figures on Monday during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Katsina.

According to him, the command under the able leadership of CP Bello Shehu has employed several strategies while working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of lives and property in the state, thus yielding the following results. ‘Twenty-five suspects were arrested for armed robbery.

‘Fifteen suspects were arrested in connection with a suspected case of kidnapping. Thirty suspects were arrested in connection with a suspected case of murder/culpable homicide. Three suspects were arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, and 200 suspects were arrested in connection with offences not mentioned above.

The command also recovered two locally made Dane guns, two suspected stolen motor vehicles, two suspected stolen motorcycles, and 174 suspected rustled animals during the period under review.

He said over 130 kidnapped victims were also rescued in the last month. ‘114 Pieces of Exzol Tablets, 8 pieces of Tramadol tablets, 55 pieces of D5 Tablets, 78 bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis were recovered.

‘These achievements would not have been possible without the support of the Katsina State Government and the good people of the state. We appreciate their support, collaboration, and assistance in our crime-fighting efforts to maintain law and order.

‘However, we solicit more support and cooperation from the members of the public to enable us to further improve on these successes. We urge the public to continue reporting suspicious activities and crimes to the nearest police station or use our emergency numbers: 081569777772, 090222096903, 07072722539’, the PPRO said.
