The Police Command in Katsina State has arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of acting as an informant to bandits and recovered alleged criminal charms.

The Command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Katsina.

He said the suspect, identified as Abdullahi Abdullahi, was apprehended, following credible intelligence from Musawa Divisional Police Headquarters.

Sadiq-Aliyu said the suspect confessed during interrogation to collaborating with his brother in criminal activities, including issuing threats to victims.

‘We called a victim and demanded the sum of N10 million or we would kill him’, the suspect reportedly admitted.

The spokesperson added that the suspect also confessed to involvement in similar crimes in the past.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Umar Ali-Fage, ordered intensified efforts to track and arrest other fleeing suspects linked to the case.

Ali-Fage reiterated the Command’s resolve to tackle banditry, warning that those aiding criminal activities would be ‘decisively dealt with’.

The CP urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
