The Kwara State government is to recruit at least 300 extension agents for wet season farming in the state.

The state’s commissioner for agriculture and rural development, Mrs Oloruntoyosi Thomas, announced this during a training programme for 22 extension agents in the state.

The training was organised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, through the Department of Agricultural Extension Services in collaboration with the Kwara State government.

The programme is part of the government’s drive at ensuring food security.

The commissioner emphasised the importance of extension agents in the agricultural value chain and the state government’s commitment to reward them.

Thomas said the state government was passionate about the well-being of residents and was fully committed to the agricultural sector.

She said the government had invested heavily in agriculture and extension services, expressing satisfaction with the performance of all the departments in her ministry.
