The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr Olumide Sogunle has pledged the ministry’s unwavering support to the Lagos Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for the seamless discharge of its mandate.

This was as he congratulated the executive and members of NUJ, Lagos Information, for hosting the 17th edition of the annual Ramadan Lecture.

Sogunle made the pledge at the 2023 Ramadan Lecture, the 17th edition in the series, at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, the state capital, where he was represented by the Deputy Director of the ministry, Mr Tunde Olalere.

Speaking at the event, Sogunle noted that “Ramadan is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of God and to offer more prayer than usual.

“During Ramadan, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds. It is a time for Muslims to reflect on their faith and requires significant sacrifices”, he said.

The Chapel Chairman, Adebowale Adeniji said that this year’s theme, Home as the Bedrock of a Better Society was apt and carefully chosen because of the generally acknowledged role of the family as the bedrock of a better society.

The chairman acknowledged the role of the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso; Sogunle; the executive members of the chapel; the 2023 Ramadan Planning committee; the management and the entire staff of the ministry for their support and encouragement at all times.
