Publisher of online news website, The Genius Media, Shola Adekunle got married the other weekend to former Miss Mumeenat Opeyemi AbdulSalam in Offa, Kwara State.

The Imperial Hall, adjacent Summit University, hosted the glamorous event.

Elegantly dressed media practitioners and corporate communications executives graced together other guests adorned in shades of white and purple, in line with the couple’s wedding colours.

It was a twin ceremony, with the Islamic marriage (also known as Nikkah) held around 11 am, followed by a glamorous reception. Following the Islamic ceremonies and prayers, guests were treated to sumptuous rounds of meals, choice drinks and good music.

The couple also spared no energy when it was dance time as they both serenaded the audience with various steps and moves while trying to outdo each other.

The groom said they met in Kaduna at a sporting event. “My wife was participating in a relay race among her Muslim friends when we met. Her exceptional performance got my eyes locked into her and my senses flew away. Like a man under a spell I immediately admired God’s beauty in a human, left what I was doing and started pursuing this babe like a lion after a prey. I don’t know where the courage came from but I walked up to her and started vibing, Alhamdulilahi. The rest is history”, he revealed.

“My wife is God fearing and I love her character and everything about her. I’m so excited I have a friend and life partner in one person. She means the world to me”, the excited groom further said.

The bride said she admires her partner because he is committed to making their relationship work and makes her happy.

Shola, a younger brother of the late Tunmise Adekunle, former Brands and Marketing Editor at THISDAY newspapers, is a respected journalist and public relations executive who doubles as the media monitoring coordinator at JSP Communications; while his wife works as a medical personnel.
