Following a surge in public complaints and in a bid to restore public sanity, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office has sealed off public toilets at Marina Car Park, Lagos Island, for environmental violations

This was disclosed in a statement shared on X.com by the Lagos State Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Friday.

The statement revealed that LSWMO shut down the public toilets citing health and safety concerns.

The statement reads, “On Friday, 6th September 2024, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) sealed off public toilets at Marina Car Park, Lagos Island, for severe environmental violations after a public complaint.

“The toilets were discharging wastewater from the toilets onto the roads and car park environment thus posing a significant environmental hazard to pedestrians and motor users.

“The toilets were also found with extremely unsanitary and unhygienic conditions.

“This action reflects the Lagos State Government’s zero tolerance to environmental pollution in all forms.

“Residents of the State are enjoined to maintain a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment.”
