The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said it is partnering with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) to enhance public safety in the transport sector.

LASEMA said on Friday that its plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with NSIB for effective collaboration, which commenced in March 2023, have been successfully concluded.

The Permanent Secretary/CEO of the agency, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu and NSIB Director-General, Mr. Akin Olateru 2023 expressed their joint commitment to pooling resources, knowledge and expertise to better secure the lives and property of the people of Lagos.

According to a statement by LASEMA, there has been extensive cooperation between both parties this past year with the rail incident at PWD junction in March and the downed aircraft in Ikeja earlier this week. “The goal, as always, is to move to disaster prevention and risk reduction”, LASEMA said, adding that “the understanding will encompass training, skills transfer and early warning systems”.
