Shot in Ibadan and Lagos, Jantolo Revisited features TikTok artiste and an ICT hand at the First Technical University in the popular, Ibadan, Ololade. In the act with Lasisi are multi-talented Olatunde Obajeun and Afrobeat act, Edaoto.

Jantolo is originally a love song and the revisited version is not departing from that destiny, according to Lasisi.

“It is an experiment inspired by Ololade herself though the poems in ‘Jantolo’ have a longer history in terms of their source”, Lasisi said. “Actually, the main project I am working on now with the songbirds is Orere – or new album. We are tidying up the digital release of the album, while we are also preparing to shoot the title track. Orere will be shot in early May, with popular actress, Aisha Lawal being on our mind as star feature. But as we were still preparing for Orere, Jantolo sneaked in again and it is eventually a good idea because it serves as a bridge to the fresh offering. It is also cool that it helps us to boost people’s fun this festive season”.

Lasisi earlier released videos that include Eleleture, Udeme, Ori Agbe: For Wole Soyinka, Asabi Alakara’ and ‘Mo n Bo’. While his collections of poems include ‘IREMOJE: Ritual Poetry for Ken Saro-Wiwa’ and ‘Night of my Flight’, he, last December, staged African Citations, an exhibition of poetic tributes held at the MUSON Centre, Lagos. The event attracted dignitaries from different walks of life.

He further notes on Jantolo Revisited: “I hope people will enjoy it as they do our initial works. Personally, producing it is a fulfilling experience because it taught me some other things we can do with our earlier numbers and how to approach our productions in new ways”.

Jantolo Revisited will be available on Akeem Lasisi & the Songbirds channel on YouTube and Lasisi’s other social media platforms.
