LAUTECH convocation climaxes without issue

The grand finale of the 16th convocation ceremonies of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, is holding about now at the premises of the institution.

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, who is the institution’s Visitor, is being represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Soliu Adelabu.

Highlights of the events included awards of postgraduate diplomas and higher degrees, while it will climax with the award of two honorary doctorate degrees in Civil Law and Technology to Alhaji Ahmed Adeniyi Raji and Engr. Yinka Ayoola Ajao, respectively.

Dignitaries at the day’s event included Senator Abdulfatai Omotayo Buhari; Chairman of the Governing Council of LAUTECH, Prof. Ayodeji Omole; former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Adeolu Akande; and a former Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olarewaju Nassar.

Royal fathers at the ceremony included the Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III; Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola; Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, among others.

Meanwhile, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Lekan Fadeyi, denied rumour that a student got killed on campus at the occasion.

According to him, information from town was that some people got engaged at a night club, far from the university premises, during which one of them got killed. He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the person killed was not a student of LAUTECH.

Fadeyi added that the school’s convocation witnessed by the aforementioned highly respected individuals, would not have held if there was a fracas involving students of the school.
