Liverpool have reportedly decided against pursuing a move for Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior, potentially leaving Arsenal to explore a deal for the Brazil international.
According to reports, Arsenal are considering a move for the 26-year-old, who is said to have one year remaining on his contract with Real Madrid and could become available on a free transfer next summer if no extension is agreed.
The report also claims that Liverpool were offered the opportunity to sign Vinícius this summer but opted not to pursue the move.
It adds that the Premier League champions have held “no meaningful discussions” over a potential transfer and are instead focusing on strengthening the right side of their attack.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that José Mourinho’s side have opened talks to sign Yan Diomande. However, an initial bid of €100 million (£85.4 million) was rejected by RB Leipzig.
Liverpool are also reported to have seen a €100 million (£85.4 million) offer for Diomande turned down earlier this summer, with the Bundesliga club said to be holding out for €120 million (£102.5 million).
Vinícius enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 22 goals and providing 14 assists, although Real Madrid finished the season without winning a trophy.
The Brazilian is currently on holiday following Brazil’s elimination by Norway in the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup, where he scored four goals and registered one assist.
Madrid, meanwhile, are also reported to be interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
The Spain international, who captained his country to victory over Argentina in the World Cup final last weekend, is understood to be open to a return to La Liga.
