Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has strongly denied recent statements made by the Senate President regarding the alleged distribution of N30 billion to each of the 36 Governors in Nigeria.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated during a plenary session that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) had disbursed the funds to address food scarcity and economic challenges.
Governor Makinde swiftly refuted these claims, labelling them as inaccurate and misleading.
He clarified in a statement released on Thursday in Iseyin, during the commissioning of Iseyin Central mosque that no such disbursement had taken place to assist states in alleviating food scarcity and economic difficulties.
Expressing his concerns about the politicization of Nigeria’s current socio-economic issues, Governor Makinde called on the Federal Government to focus on implementing effective policies rather than spreading misinformation.
He emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and factual accuracy in public discussions, especially as many Nigerians struggle with inflation, food insecurity, and economic hardships.
