MAPOLY Alumni converge in Abeokuta for 2025 national convention, election

Members of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Alumni Association (MAPALUM) from across Nigeria and the Diaspora will converge in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital,  on Saturday, 24 May 2025, for the biennial national convention of the association.

Delegates will participate in the event, aimed at reinforcing the alumni engagement, elect new leadership, and advance developmental projects that will support students and strengthen the institution.

A core feature of the convention will be the election of a new National Executive Council, marking a leadership transition that is expected to shape the future of MAPALUM.

Outgoing National President, Ezekiel Obasanya emphasised that the convention is a defining moment, not just for leadership change, but for strengthening alumni commitment to the progress of the institution, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY).

The event will bring together distinguished speakers and dignitaries. MAPOLY Rector, Arch. Dr. Koyejo Jolaoso will deliver the keynote address, addressing strategies for alumni collaboration and institutional development.

Chairman of MAPOLY Governing Council, Prof. Kamal Balogun will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Executive Chairman of Surry Bee Petroleum Limited, Hadj Adebisi Bada, will be the Chairman of the event.

The Rector of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Dr. Goke Rauf will speak on the theme, “Elevating MAPOLY’s Legacy through Alumni Partnership”, highlighting how alumni can contribute to mentorship, infrastructure development, and academic advancement. The Olota of Ota Kingdom, Oba Abdul-Kabir Adeyemi Obalanlege will attend as Royal Father of the occasion, reinforcing the link between heritage and education.

The convention will feature discussions on major initiatives that will improve institutional and student welfare, including the Build-Operate-Transfer Alumni Hostel Project, which aims to accommodate 1,200 male and female students, completion of the Alumni Centre for professional networking and research, introduction of an Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Scheme designed to enhance student employability, and expansion of mentorship programmes that will connect current students with experienced alumni in various fields.

Also expected at the event are accomplished alumni and stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Committee for Distinguished Alumni, Rotarian Olalekan Otun, who is also Executive Director of Minds and Brains Limited; Executive Chairman of SKP Services Limited, Arch. Samson Popoola; former General Manager of NTA Katsina, Hadj Ayinde Soaga; Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government Council; Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo; Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Youth Development, Hon. Olamide Lawal; Managing Director of Kabat Communication Limited, Chief Tunde Odeyemi; Chief of Staff to the Chairman of National Quality Contro,Mr. Bola Fashina; and Managing Director of 24/7 IMC Limited, Omooba Segun Adewale.

The 2025 MAPOLY Alumni Convention represents a milestone in the association’s journey, celebrating its legacy while charting new paths for leadership and alumni involvement in institutional transformation. As delegates prepare to engage in meaningful dialogue and strategic planning, Abeokuta is set to witness a powerful demonstration of unity, vision, and progress.
