In his efforts to sustain the success recorded by troops of Operation Hadarin Daji against armed banditry in the Northwest part of the country, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has again arrived in Sokoto to monitor the activities.

The minister, who arrived in Sokoto on Tuesday evening, is expected to hold meetings with troops, especially those at the forefront of the operation, to discuss how possible ways to sustain the tempo and get rid of insecurity in the zone.

Matawalle, while speaking on his plan for the task ahead, said the fight against insecurity is not just for the government but also for all the stakeholders, including journalists in the country.

He called on the media to stop giving the activities of bandits more publicity ahead of the troops, which he said is one major thing that usually boosts the courage of bandits to attack more.

“I am back in the state to ascertain the level of success achieved so far in the state and to change tactics if possible.

“After my last visit, we all witnessed the level of success, and I am sure the story will not be different after this visit.

“We will continue to record more success over the insurgents”.

The minister calls for collective action, devoid of any political, ethnic or religious affiliation, when dealing with issues related to insecurity.

He also commended the Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, for the support given to the security agents, especially troops of operations Hadarin Daji in their operations.

Matawalle further called on other governors in the country, especially from the Northwest region, to emulate the governor of Sokoto State by giving logistics support to the security agents in their respective states.
