The General Manager of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee (LSPMC), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (popularly known as MC Oluomo) has requested from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) approval for his committee to participate in the distribution of sensitive poll materials.
MC Oluomo is an associate of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his letter to INEC, MC Oluomo also appealed for LSPMC to be allowed to transport election officials on Election Day.
In the letter, dated 12 January 2023, and received by INEC four days later, the LSPMC boss recalled that the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has been suspended in Lagos State.
He urged INEC to disregard any relationship with the union and work with the LSPMC to ensure that sensitive election materials are effectively distributed across the state.
MC Oluomo informed INEC that Oyo, Ogun, Ondo and Osun are among the states that are no longer under the NURTW, but rather under respective state parks and garages associations.
He said that the notification and request letter to INEC became necessary to avoid technical, logistics and deployment challenges that could affect elections in Lagos State.
