The fifth edition of the free quarterly online training programme, organised by the Media Integrity Initiative Africa (MIIA). will hold on 16 and 23 May 2026.
The virtual training, which is part of MIIA’s sustained commitment to advancing ethical, innovative and impact-driven media practice across Africa, is delivered via the cloud-based video conferencing platform, Zoom.
Each session will be held from 11oo to 1600 hours (West African Time).
In a statement on Wednesday, MIIA’s coordinator, Mr. Femi Akintunde-Johnson, said that the May 2026 edition would feature four intensive modules facilitated by seasoned industry experts with extensive practical experience.
The facilitators are the CEO/Editor-in-Chief of Diamond Publications Limited, Mr. Lanre Ìdòwú; Executive Director at the Institute for Public Speaking and Advanced Communication, Alex Ogundadegbe; Head Consultant/CEO at Quest Communications Limited, Mr. Ohi Alegbe; and Publisher/Editor-in-Chief at QED.ng, Mr. Olumide Iyanda.
Ìdòwú, who will handle “Media Regulation in Nigeria: How Ethical Codification and Co-Regulation Can Boost Professionalism, and Impact the Bottom Line” is also a Trustee of the Diamond Awards for Media Excellence, and a member of the National Mass Media Commission.
He had been Editor and later Deputy Editor-in-Chief at the now-defunct ThisWeek magazine, Editor-in-Chief at Media Review, Assistant Editor at The Democrat Weekly, Reporter and Head of Investigations at The Guardian on Sunday and Staff Writer at Daily Times.
Ogundadegbe, who will teach Crisis Communication and Management, is also a human resources, marketing and strategic planning consultant. He was Assistant Features Editor and Entertainment Writer at Saturday Punch and a former editor at Theweek magazine.
Alegbe, who retired as Group General Manager (Public Affairs Division) of NNPC Limited, was Associate Director (Media) at The Quadrant Company, and Deputy Editor at African Concord. He will teach Corporate Social Responsibility and Media Engagement.
Iyanda is the Founder/CEO of Mighty Media Plus Network Limited. He was editor Independent on Saturday and a reporter at PUNCH newspapers. He will bring his experience to bear on the topic, Mastering the Art of Interview Across Media Platforms.
Although participation is entirely free, Akintunde-Johnson said that registration is mandatory.

MIIA has trained hundreds of media professionals across journalism, broadcasting and public relations. According to Akintunde-Johnson, the training platform is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of ethical, innovative and impact-driven African media professionals.
