Osun State Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola recently presented the staff of office and instrument of appointment to the new Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Olubiyi Toriola.

The governor congratulated the monarch for being considered worthy of ascending the throne of his forefathers and appealed to the people to continue to sustain the existing peace and shun all acts of violence.

Oyetola equally enjoined the people to join hands with the new monarch for the progress, unity, peace and the overall development of the town.

He assured that his government would not relent in its effort to play its role in that regard.

He therefore wished Oba Toriola a successful tenure and prayed that God would bless him with long life, good health  and prosperity on the throne.

Meanwhile, the monarch has expressed profound appreciation to the community and all stakeholders for making his coronation/presentation of instrument of office ceremony a reality and success.

Oba Toriola said: “I am particularly grateful to all the individuals and groups God used to make the event a huge success.

“My profound appreciation goes to the amiable and peace-loving Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, for his personal attendance with the other principal members of his cabinet.

“May God Almighty continue to answer the supplications of the governor by the reason of his constantly showing of love for our community.

“I am also appreciative of the huge contributions of the legislative and the judiciary arms of the government of Osun State towards the ceremony .

“My appreciation also goes to our father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, CFR, globally acclaimed champion for peace, the Arole Oodua and the Ooni of Ife, the authority without whose consent no Ogunsua can be appointed. Kaaaabiyesi o”!

The monarch further expressed appreciation to the royal stool of Oyo represented by High Chief Yusuf Akinade Ayoola (Olayinka 1), the Bashorun of Oyo, who graced the occasion in dual capacity as the representative of the Alaafin of Oyo and as the head of the Oyomesi.

Oba Toriola further said: “I also appreciate the attendance of all the other royal fathers and their Oloris both from within and outside the state who invested their time and resources to honour us on this historic occasion.

“My appreciation also goes to captains of industry, past and present leaders in politics, governance and academia particularly, retired and current staff of the Obafemi Awolowo University”.

The monarch also expressed appreciation for the contribution of Modakeke sons and daughters, local government functionaries, the Ogunsua-in-Council, traditional and honourary chiefs, past and present leadership of the Modakeke Progressives Union (MPU), led by Rotarian Julius Odegbemi, and the Modakeke Progressives International, led by Alhaji Yemi Animasaun.

He also enthused the 95-year-old first MPU President, Chief (Dr) Anthony Oyewole, who, he said, was more like a father-figure to him since their paths crossed over 50 years ago, for being a source of forthright and wise counsel. He praised the nonagenarian who strived despite his advanced age to grace the occasion.
