The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta Muslim Alumni (MAPAMA) has said that it received with great shock the death of one of its member, His Royal Highness, Oba Sabur Bakare, Jamolu II, the ninth Agura of Gbagura, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Oba Bakare was a devout Muslim, easy going and unassuming, “whose reign would be remembered for stability, development and unprecedented recognition in all nooks and crannies of Gbagura land, home and abroad”, the group said.

In his tribute, MAPAMA President, Prince Taofik Oyeniyi rated the four-year reign of the late monarch as the golden era for Gbagura kingdom and its environs.

“We commiserate with the late monarch’s family, sons and daughters of Gbagura land at home and in diaspora.

“We equally join the Muslim community in Gbagura land, most especially, our dear father, Mufti of Egbaland and the Chief Imam of Gbagura land, Emeritus Professor Kamaldeen Balogun and the entire good people of Egbaland in this period of bereavement and mourning”, the Oyeniyi said.

It would be recalled that Oba Bakare received the staff of office from former Governor Ibikunle Amosun May 21, 2019, after the demise of his predecessor, Oba Halidu Laloko, Sobekin II.
