Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has said that many properties in Awka, the state capital, would be demolished to build the capital city of the people’s dreams.
According to him, after the demolitions, Awka will be built to the status of a real state capital that everybody will be proud of.
During the monthly ‘Solution Walk for Healthy Living’ held in Awka on Saturday, the governor also noted that every money generated by the state government under his watch would be judiciously used to build sustainable human capital development for the good of the people.
Although he did not disclose if or how the owners of demolished structures would be compensated, he said he is very passionate about building sustainable human capital development.
He said: “We will demolish Awka and build a befitting capital for those living in Awka. We will also build a flyover across the highway in Awka.
“Awka will be the real capital and by next year, when Anambra State will be 33 years old, the governor of the state, for the first time, will live in Awka, in the government house”.
He also pointed out that his administration is determined to impact positively on the lives of the youths and the people of the state.
“The youths should work hard to earn a decent living because Ndi Anambra celebrates hard work and industry.
“The youths that are undergoing training at the state government’s ongoing One-Youth-Two-Skills programme should be serious because it could be their breakthrough in life”.
Meanwhile, Soludo has also stressed that his administration is passionate about industrialization while urging more investors to set sail for Anambra.
He stated this during the groundbreaking ceremony of the second automobile manufacturing plant in the state, Kojo Motors in Umunya.
He said his government is supportive of industries that are willing to venture into production to meet the local needs and export.
