The naira depreciated by ₦27.12 against the United States dollar in two days at the official foreign exchange market, according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
CBN data showed that the local currency weakened to ₦1,361.84 per dollar on Friday from ₦1,334.72 recorded on Wednesday.
The decline represented a depreciation of 2.03 per cent over the two-day period.
On a week-on-week basis, the naira also lost ₦27.12 against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market during the week under review.
The local currency also weakened at the parallel market, where it depreciated by ₦5 to trade at ₦1,375 per dollar, according to several Bureau de Change operators.
The naira’s decline across the two foreign exchange markets occurred despite Nigeria’s external reserves standing at $55.16 billion as of 22 October 2026, according to CBN data.
The latest figures highlight continued pressure on the naira across official and parallel foreign exchange markets, even as the country maintains substantial external reserves.
