Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Saturday announced the suspension of his political campaign until further notice.

In Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq called for more supply of the new Naira notes to the citizens to ease things for the masses and stabilise the currency swap policy.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kunle Somorin, the Ogun State governor said he decided to identify with the plight of the people who are faced with the twin challenge of fuel scarcity and Naira swap.

While expressing his delight at the 47th anniversary of the creation of the state, which fell due on 3 February, the governor said that his administration shared the pains being currently experienced by the people in the state as a result of the redesigned naira notes swap and fuel scarcity.

According to him, the plight being endured by the people is a great sacrifice that can be offered by them for a better Nigeria, disclosing that all efforts were being made to ease the situation.

He said that “the issues of scarcity of fuel and new Naira notes have been taken up with relevant authorities to make life easier and more meaningful for the people.

“As an administration voted into office by the people, it will be insensitive to ignore the plight of the people and continue with the reelection campaigns when people cannot do businesses with their hard-earned money and cannot get fuel”.

He however promised to continue with the campaign once the crises cease and normalcy returns to the economic activities of the people.

Speaking at the weekend At a meeting with the Consumer Protection Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN ) in Ilorin, AbdulRazaq called for calm, while all stakeholders work to ease the situation.

He said to the team led by Mrs Rashidat Jumoke Monguno: “It’s quite proactive for you to come down to various states to see that compliance is being followed through down to the grassroots level. Our people really need this at this time.

“We appreciate your coming and we will continue to engage the citizens, traditional institutions, students, all other segments of the society, farmers and NGOs to pass the message through for us to have calmness and make sure the process is seamless”.
