The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) and MTN Nigeria have confirmed their participation in the Africa Sustainability Forum 2026.
The sustainability-focused gathering is scheduled to hold on 20 October 2026 at Oriental Hotels, Lagos, under the theme, “Sustainable Futures: Driving Just Transitions, Green Growth & Shared Prosperity.”
The forum is expected to bring together leaders and practitioners from government, business, regulation, development, finance, sustainability and civil society to examine practical approaches to advancing sustainable development across Africa.
The participation of the NCC is expected to contribute perspectives on sustainable digital infrastructure, connectivity and the digital economy, reflecting the commission’s role in regulating and supporting Nigeria’s communications sector.
The NDPC will bring data governance and privacy perspectives to the forum, with the commission describing data privacy as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s sustainable digital economy.
The FBRA, an industry collaboration platform focused on post-consumer packaging waste collection, recovery and recycling, will contribute a circular economy and responsible waste management perspective.
Its work includes promoting sustainable packaging waste management and supporting the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility in Nigeria.
MTN Nigeria’s participation will add a corporate sustainability perspective, with the telecommunications company’s sustainability framework covering environmental responsibility, social impact, governance and inclusive economic growth.
The company has also set a target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.
Elvis Eromosele, Lead Coordinator of the Africa Sustainability Forum, said the participation of organisations from different sectors reflected the need for sustainability discussions to extend beyond individual industries.
“Sustainability is not a conversation that belongs to one industry, one institution or one group of stakeholders. The challenges we face are interconnected, and so must be the solutions,” Eromosele said.
He added that bringing regulators, businesses and industry-led sustainability platforms together would provide an opportunity to examine existing initiatives, identify gaps and explore ways of turning commitments into practical action.
“The participation of NCC, NDPC, FBRA, MTN Nigeria, and others adds important perspectives to this conversation, and we look forward to the ideas, partnerships and solutions that will emerge from the Forum,” he said.
The Africa Sustainability Forum 2026 is designed to facilitate discussions around Africa’s transition towards more sustainable and inclusive economies.
Topics expected to feature include just transitions, green growth, responsible business, innovation, climate action, circular economy, digital transformation and shared prosperity.
The forum will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to share experiences, examine emerging opportunities, assess existing approaches and identify areas for collaboration aimed at delivering sustainable outcomes across the continent.
Organisers have invited organisations, sponsors, business leaders, sustainability professionals, policymakers, development partners, individuals and sustainability enthusiasts to participate in the event.
Participation, partnership, sponsorship and knowledge-sharing opportunities are available through the forum’s official platform.
