The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2022 November/ December Senior School Certificate of Examination (SSCE) results, with 57 percent of candidates scoring five credits and above.

The Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, made the official announcement of the results at the NECO headquarters in Minna on Thursday, saying that 60,133 candidates registered for the examination with 59,124 of them sitting for the examination.

Of this number, 31,316 are males, representing 52.96 per cent while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent were female.

He said that 33,914 candidates, representing 57.36 percent got five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics.

Wushishi also said that 58,012 candidates sat for English Language out of which 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, got credit and above, while 57,700 sat for Mathematics, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent got credit and above.

“Also 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20 percent got five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics”, he said.

He, however, lamented that state governments still owed the council over N3 billion for the SSCE examination in the country.

The Registrar, who refused to disclose the states, explained that the initial debt was over N3 billion but with the efforts of some state governors, the balance was reduced to a bit above N2 billion.

He said the debt was affecting the council in the conduct of examination as it relied on what it generates from the payment of examination fees to pay its examiners.

NECO Registrar said that 11,419 candidates were booked for various forms of malpractices as against 4,454 in 2021. This was a sequel to the improved strategy and technique adopted by the council.

He revealed that four supervisors – one each from Rivers and Plateau States – and two from Ogun State were blacklisted for aiding, abetting, and poor supervision while urging respective candidates to access their results of the NECO website www.neco.gov.ng using their registration numbers.

The examination was conducted by NECO from 21 November to 21 December, last year and is being released 57 days after.
