The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has set up the state’s Refugees Commission, decrying the high number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.

He announced a take-off grant of N500 million and said it was part of his efforts to cater to the IDPs in the state.

Bago made this known on Monday in Minna after making presentations to some of the 700 households beneficiaries of the relief materials from the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.

“The state refugees commission will operate under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and effectively address the difficulties faced by the IDPs.

“We are supposed to feed Nigeria not to be fed but unfortunately this is where we find ourselves”, Bago said.
