Residents of Ibadan shared their struggles and alternative cooking methods amidst the soaring prices during an interview with Breezynews correspondent
In May 2021, a 12.5kg gas cylinder was priced at N3,750. By March 2022, it had risen to N8,500. The average retail cost for refilling this cylinder increased by 39.78 per cent year-on-year in December 2022.
By October 2023, till date prices the price of gas has increased beyond reasonable doubt forcing many to turn to firewood, sawdust, and charcoal due to the affordability crisis exacerbated by the continuous price hikes.
