NiMet predicts thunderstorms, rainfall across multiple states

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released a comprehensive *Nigeria weather forecast* predicting widespread thunderstorms and rainfall from Sunday through Tuesday across the country.

In its weather bulletin issued on Saturday in Abuja, NiMet said that thunderstorms and moderate rain are expected to begin on Sunday morning in parts of Taraba and Adamawa.

The intensity is expected to increase throughout the day, spreading across the northern states including Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Kaduna, Jigawa, Borno, Gombe, and Bauchi.

For the North-Central region, NiMet forecast a cloudy morning, followed by thunderstorms and rainfall in Abuja (FCT), Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, and Plateau States in the afternoon and evening.

Southern Nigeria is expected to begin with cloudy skies on Sunday morning, followed by rain showers in Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Edo, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa later in the day.

On Monday, the pattern continues with morning thunderstorms in Sokoto, Zamfara, and Bauchi, followed by storms across more northern states including Taraba, Adamawa, Kano, and Borno in the evening.

In the North-Central, thunderstorms are expected over Abuja, Niger, Kogi, and Nasarawa States in the morning, and over Plateau, Kwara, and Benue States in the evening.

Southern states including Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom States should brace for morning rains, with more rainfall expected throughout the day.

On Tuesday, isolated morning thunderstorms with moderate rain will affect Zamfara and Kaduna States, while afternoon storms are expected in Taraba, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe and Borno States.

The North-Central states of Niger, Plateau, and Benue will see morning rain, with additional rainfall over Abuja, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kwara, and Benue later in the day.

In the south, Lagos and Bayelsa States will see early morning rain, followed by widespread rainfall throughout the region.
