Nkwocha said the initiative would turn waste materials into valuable economic resources, generate revenue, create opportunities and reduce environmental pollution.
He made the call on Thursday, 5 November 2026, while delivering the keynote address at the third edition of the Waste to Wealth Summit and the unveiling of the Nigerian Institute of Regenerative Resources Management and Protection Technologies (NIPRMPT) in Port Harcourt.
In his presentation, titled “Innovation for Tomorrow: Regenerative Technologies and Sustainable Resource Governance”, Nkwocha highlighted the importance of regenerative technologies in advancing environmental sustainability, protecting human health and driving economic development.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Reputation Masters Limited, who is also the immediate past Group Head of Corporate Communications at Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals and Fertilizer Group, identified four key areas of regenerative technologies: regenerative medicine, engineering, environmental management and agriculture.
He explained that regenerative technologies encompass scientific methods, systems and tools designed to prevent environmental damage, restore degraded ecosystems and renew human tissues and natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
Nkwocha urged the newly established institute and relevant government agencies to incorporate regenerative principles and practices into Nigeria’s national development plans.
He also stressed the need for increased public awareness, capacity building and research to maximise the country’s benefits from regenerative practices.
The keynote speaker called on the Federal and State Governments to support NIPRMPT in building its capacity to promote effective regenerative resources management and governance.
He further urged relevant Federal Government agencies to facilitate the institute’s access to essential equipment and other resources needed to implement regenerative technologies and practices.
Among his other recommendations were the promotion of sustainable waste management and pollution control, the prevention of biodiversity loss, the restoration of degraded ecosystems and increased investment in research into regenerative technologies.
A major highlight of the event was the investiture of the institute’s Chancellor, Sir Daminabo Amos Atuboyedia, and other board members as Fellows of NIPRMPT.
The ceremony was conducted by the Chairman of the occasion, Professor Andrew Adesola Obafemi of the University of Port Harcourt, alongside the keynote speaker, Dr Nkwocha.
