The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Monday, issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to address current fuel and naira scarcity in the country.

Briefing journalists at the Labour House on the outcome of a meeting convened by the Central Working Committee of the congress, NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero said the union would declare a nationwide strike and mass action if the two major problems are not addressed after seven days.

Ajaero, who expressed concern about the difficult situation imposed on Nigerians as a result of the Federal Government’s cash swap policy, warned that if nothing is done to improve the situation by the end of the seven-day period, workers would be directed to stay away from work.

The NLC President also criticised the country’s current fuel shortage, lamenting that workers and Nigerians are being pushed to the brink of starvation.
