Nigeria and Paris FC goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Season award as the French women’s topflight unveils players in different award categories to mark the end of the campaign

The nominations for the 2023/2024 season were announced on Monday with two games to go. Nnadozie will battle Lyon’s Christiane Ender and PSG’s Katarzyna Kierdrzynek for the prize.

Since moving to France in 2020, the 23-year-old has established herself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. She is the leading penalty specialist, boasting the highest number of saves from the spot among elite goalkeepers in the men’s and women’s top leagues since the start of the 2023/24 season.

Nnadozie boasts seven spot-kick saves, two in the league and five in her club’s sensational run in the Women’s Champions League. Trio Ines Benyahia (Le Havre), Nnadozie’s Paris FC teammate Louna Ribadeira and Thiniba Samoura (PSG) are in contention for the Revelation of The Season award.

The Coach of The Season nominees consist of the top three coaches on the log; Lyon’s Sonia Bompastor, PSG’s Jocelyn Precheur and Paris FC’s Sandrine Soubeyrand. Winners of the awards will be announced on April 29.

With two games left in the French women’s league season, Lyon tops the table with 58 points, nine points ahead of PSG, while Nnadozie’s Paris FC are third with 41 points, trailing PSG by eight points.

Paris FC made it to the group stage of the Champions League this season and are in pole position to return next season as they lead Reims by 10 points.
