The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at its retail outlets in Abuja and surrounding areas.
The price was raised from N1,250 to N1,270 per litre, representing an increase of N20 per litre.
The adjustment comes despite the expansion of Dangote Refinery’s free petrol delivery initiative to 10 destinations across Nigeria, including Abuja, where the product is reportedly available at N1,185 per litre.
MRS filling stations had also earlier increased their petrol price by N20, with motorists now purchasing the product at N1,230 per litre at some of its outlets.
Meanwhile, other filling stations, including Empire and AA Rano, are selling petrol at between N1,275 and N1,299 per litre.
The latest adjustments mean that motorists and other consumers in Abuja and its environs are now purchasing petrol at prices ranging from N1,230 to N1,299 per litre.
The development comes amid concerns over rising fuel costs, despite the reported decline in crude oil prices and efforts by Dangote Refinery to expand its petrol distribution network.
