The inauguration of Mr Biodun Oyebanji as the fifth executive governor of Ekiti State on Sunday turned out to be a parade of top-notch political bigwigs in Nigeria.

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the governors of Kebbi, Jigawa, Niger, Plateau, Lagos, Edo, Ogun and Ondo States, as well as APC national party leaders and notable political groups witnessed the transition of power from Dr Kayode Fayemi to his successor.

Groups that graced the impressive ceremony included the Nigeria Patriotic Coalition (NPC) and the Nigeria Prosperity Moment (NPM) both of which backed Fayemi’s presidential ambition but are now integrated into the APC presidential campaign structure.

It was a beehive of activities as notable Nigerian politicians took advantage of the inauguration to catch-up and network with others from the various states as the campaigns for the 2023 general elections got underway.

The NPC was represented by the Convener/Chairman, Hon. Yemi Akinbode; while the NPM were led by Mallam Ahmed Sajoh (Convener) and Mr. Jerry Nwohu (National Coordinator). Also present were NPM South West Facilitator, Hon. Taiwo Akeju, who is also Osun State Commissioner for Political and Intergovernmental Affairs.

Also in attendance were the former Governors of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, who is not Minister of Trade and Investment; and his own immediate successor, Mr Ay0dele Fayose.

Other include former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; Senator Teslim Folarin of Oyo Central district; Senator Ayo Arise, who represented Ekiti North district in the seventh Senate (2007 to 2011); political office holders, captains of industry, business persons, youth associations, trade groups and professional associations from across Nigeria.
