President Bola Tinubu is set to celebrate exceptional youth on Tuesday, as no fewer than 210 outstanding corps members will receive the prestigious President’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Honours Award for their dedicated service between 2020 and 2023.
The anticipated ceremony recognises the commitment and impactful contributions of Nigeria’s youth.
In a statement in Abuja on Saturday, NYSC’s Director of Media, Mr. Emeka Mgbemena said that the award ceremony will be held on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa at 11am.
Mgbemena said that the awardees are made up of 200 ex-corps members who excelled meritoriously in all four cardinal programmes of the NYSC.
The programmes, he said, are Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service and Winding -Up/Passing-Out in the course of service in the 2020 to 2023 Service years.
‘Others that will also be honoured by the president under the NYSC Hope Alive Initiative are 10 ex-corps members that suffered various degrees of permanent disabilities while serving their fatherland’, he said.
He said the Minister of Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande; NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu (rtd.); and NYSC Management were looking forward to welcoming the award beneficiaries and guests to the event.
