Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk is hopeful that Victor Osimhen will recover from injury in time to feature in Saturday’s crucial Turkish Super Lig clash against Trabzonspor at Papara Park.
The Nigerian striker has missed Galatasaray’s last two matches across all competitions due to a groin injury, casting doubt over his availability for the weekend fixture.
Galatasaray suffered a 3-1 defeat to Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League last Wednesday before responding with a narrow 1-0 victory over Kocaelispor at RAMS Park on Sunday.
Trabzonspor will also be seeking a strong response after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Konyaspor in their previous league outing.
Buruk said Osimhen’s possible return, alongside that of midfielder Mario Lemina and other key players, could strengthen Galatasaray’s squad ahead of the difficult away encounter.
“It’s a tough away game. They have a very good squad, and their only desire will be to beat Galatasaray.
“We will prepare throughout the week. If our players can return and we can get Osimhen and Lemina ready, we will have a stronger squad,” Buruk said.
Osimhen has been sidelined for Galatasaray’s last two matches with the groin problem, with the club yet to confirm whether he will be fit to face Trabzonspor.
Buruk remains hopeful that both Osimhen and Lemina will recover in time to strengthen the defending champions’ squad for the crucial fixture.
