In a recent interview on the Zach Sang Show, Nigerian singer Omah Lay opened up about a frustrating experience where a fellow artist allegedly stole the concept for his upcoming album.

Omah Lay explained that he had shared his vision for a new sound, which was intended to be the foundation of his entire album, with an artist he admired and hoped to collaborate with. Unfortunately, five months later, this artist released an album that mirrored the ideas Omah Lay had shared.

This incident forced Omah Lay to go back to the drawing board and re-record his album. Despite the setback, he remains confident, stating that the reworked album will be “the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.

Omah Lay did not disclose the name of the artist but expressed his disappointment and frustration over the betrayal, emphasizing how much he trusted the colleague before this incident. His experience highlights the challenges artists face in protecting their intellectual property in a competitive industry.
