Three suspected kidnappers were arrested by the Ondo State security outfit, Amotekun, while sharing a N200,000 ransom in Ikakumo, Akoko South East.
The suspects – Obalogbe Temitayo, 19, Ogundele Ojo, 20, and Pelemo Samuel, 20 – claimed to be farmers.
In an interview, Pelemo Samuel expressed regret over their actions, stating that they kidnapped their victim in Ikakumo and negotiated with the family for the ransom. However, they were caught by Amotekun personnel while sharing the loot in a thick forest.
The suspects were paraded alongside 26 other suspected criminals. Commander Chief Adetunji Adeleye stated that the kidnappers were arrested near the Ikakumo border town.
Additionally, Michael Ojo, an ex-convict and motorcycle thief, was arrested and confessed to stealing numerous motorcycles over the past five years.
Ojo claimed that motorcycles are now more valuable and easier to steal than other vehicles, which led him to start the illicit business.
While parading the suspects alongside 26 other suspected criminals, the commander of the state security outfit codenamed Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspected kidnappers were arrested inside a thick forest around border town of Ikakumo Akoko-Kogi/Edo states axis.
